Maryland CARF Accreditation Update

A survey team from CARF International* will be visiting on October 6 and 7, 2016.


We invited the surveyors to evaluate how well we meet international standards
for quality. The survey will tell us what we are doing well and ways we might
improve. As a result of this survey, we may earn or continue accreditation.

As part of the survey, the surveyors will interview people who receive services,
their families, our staff, and others. Some questions the survey team members
might ask people are:


• Do we provide a clean and safe setting?
• Do you receive the services you need and want?
• Are you treated with respect?
• Do you take part in planning your services?
• Are you told what you need to know about your services?
• Are your questions answered in a way you understand?
• Do you know where to go with questions or concerns?

William J. Eberwein II, MBA Promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of Choice Services International, Inc.

Bellmawr , NJ / Choice Services International, Inc ., headquartered in Bellmawr, New Jersey is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1982 in Chester, Pennsylvania by, Carolyn A. Eberwein, Ed.D ., the former President of Choice Services International, Inc. and the late Reverend William J. Eberwein, Sr. to provide foster care, kinship care and adoptive placements. Today, Children’s Choice serves 1,442 children through offices in Philadelphia, Chester and Lewisburg, Pennsylvania; Newark and Dover, Delaware; and Baltimore, Stevensville and Salisbury, Maryland. 

On September 19, 2015, the Board of Directors announced that William J. Eberwein II, MBA has been promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of Choice Services International, Inc. and its affiliated companies, Children’s Choice, Inc. (Pennsylvania); Children’s Choice of Delaware, Inc.; and Children’s Choice of Maryland, Inc. 

William J. Eberwein II has served as Chief Executive Officer for the listed corporations since 2014; Chief Operating Officer for the listed corporations since 2010; and was Agency Deputy Director for Administration for 3 years prior to being named Chief Operating Officer. He earned a Masters in Business Administration from Eastern University in 2004 and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Eastern University in 2001. He began working with Children’s Choice, Inc. in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1988 as a Recreational Aide.

Catering Hope in North Philadelphia

At Children's Choice we firmly believe that there are a myriad of ways to foster hope and a better future for our communities.  In all the areas in which we serve there are people who show the desire to contribute to the work of Children's Choice even though they choose not to foster or adopt.

A shining example of this community-based effort to care for and support foster families is Monty Brown, owner of All Aboard Catering.  On July 28, 2015 this small business donated a complete feast of wonderful food in order to show the resource parents of our North Broad office how much their work is appreciated.  Children's Choice organized this resource parent appreciation event in honor of 140 families and it is our hope that they were refreshed and reminded of the goodness of their service as foster parents. 

Children's Choice would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for All Aboard Catering's kind support of the resource parent community at our North Broad Street office.

Founding Day - April 1, 2015

To celebrate our 33rd anniversary, Children's Choice held its latest bi-annual All-Staff gathering named "Founding Day".  In honor of the agency's founders and in their spirit of togetherness an entire day of training and comradery was organized for current staff, board members, and distinguished guests.  

Training topics included:
